The Exil Ensemble was founded at Berlin’s Maxim Gorki Theater in 2017. Its members undertake a journey through Germany and Switzerland in an attempt to familiarise themselves with a culture and mentality hitherto unknown to them.

Welches Jahr haben wir gerade? / Which year are we living in?

With this short play, Iranian author Afsane Ehsandar, who recently moved to Berlin, won the 2017 Autorenwettbewerb (Authors’ Competition) at the city’s Autorentheatertage theatre festival.

Surtitled plays for the second half of the season (January–June 2018) will be announced in December 2017.
